Resources for Biblical, Theological, and Religious Studies maintained by Tyler F. Williams

BibleWorks is perhaps the top original languages Bible software program on the Windows platform. It comes with a huge variety of grammatically tagged Greek, Hebrew, and Septuagint Bibles, as well as an impressive number of translations in English, German, Spanish, among others. It has three interfaces -- beginner, standard, and power user, and has many customizable features. It is primarily a Bible study program, however. Besides biblical texts, translations, and original language lexical-grammatical reference works, it does not have many other resources (especially compared to programs like Logos).

  • Developer: BibleWorks, LLC (
  • Platform & System Requirements: Windows XP/Vista. Requires: CD/DVD drive, min 128 MB Ram, and a minimum of 700 MB to a maximum of 7 GB hard drive space depending on what modules you put on your drive.
  • Strengths/Weaknesses: BibleWorks's strength is its ability to work with original language texts, including complex searches. Its weakness is that it doesn't offer much else in terms of electronic reference works.

For the Windows market BibleWorks is probably the best choice for those interested in an impressive original languages Bible search program, and not concerned about additional books and resources.
