Biblical Interpretation

This course is an in-depth study of the techniques and interpretative theories regarding discerning the meaning of biblical texts. The topics include the practical approaches in interpreting the Bible, historical background, and doctrinal issues concerning biblical interpretation as a discipline. Students can expect to have an understanding of the relationship between the Old and New Testaments, literature and contextual meaning of words. Standard tools and techniques to be used for biblical research will also be taught to the students. This course is also available in the Mandarin language.

Christian Education and Discipleship

One of the most basic thrusts of biblical studies is the understanding of the Christian life as a whole and its missional core of discipleship. Using key biblical texts, students are expected to gain a sound biblical doctrine of what Christian education and discipleship are. Students are expected to gain practical experience in developing effective teaching frameworks, both as a teacher, pastor or disciple.

Historical Geography of the Bible

This course on the historical geography of the events in the Bible includes an actual tour in Israel of the students. Students can expect that this course will be an integration between lectures and actual travels. A rich appreciation of the Bible events is anticipated as students will have an opportunity to spend three (3) weeks in Israel, revisiting places where many events happened in history. Places such as the Dead Sea, Jordan Valley, Galilee and Jerusalem will be visited.

Hermeneutics in a Modern World

Hermeneutics refers to the branch of knowledge that deals with the interpretation of Bible texts. In this course offering, students are given the experience to use both the English Bible and the Greek New Testament to learn how to interpret Bible passages. This discipline is very in demand today, especially when hermeneutics is used in the missional field to engage people in the modern issues faced by the world now. Hermeneutics aims to help students understand the Biblical texts in a way that preserves the intended meaning of God.

Christian Educational Philosophy

This program gives a glimpse of the history of education, starting from the Greek and Roman era to the postcolonial times. Students will be given the chance to study notable persons in history and some of their meaningful written works that helped shape education.

Building A Children’s Ministry

Even kids have spiritual needs that have to be met. That is why it is included as a separate course offering wherein practical approaches to exploring faith development especially in the formative years are discussed.

Youth and Family Ministry

Further to developing a ministry for kids, this course is designed to answer the spiritual needs of the growing youth and teens. Likewise, faith development and doctrinal foundation for families will be given emphasis. Changing conditions of UK families will also be prioritized in the discussions.

Human Development and Learning

Students enrolled in this course will be exposed to understanding the connection between faith development and human developmental psychology. A primary goal of this course is to answer the fundamental question of how morality, intellect, personality, character and belief systems affect faith development. As expected, students will learn many psychological theories related to religious frameworks.

Christians in Business

In this postmodern world, this course gives a deeper understanding of the business and marketplace and how Christians can impact the movement of discipleship in a business setup. Given the particular technologies in business, attention will be made for students to examine the calling, work, ethics and missional aspect of a Christian in business. This course is also available in Mandarin.

Leadership Development

In this course, students are expected to gain a Bible-based leadership style that they can apply in real-life situations, as well as in pastoral and church planting ministries. Students will grow in their skills to think and respond as effective leaders managing an organization.
