The Carnival is A’Coming… So Nominate Today!
30th December 2009
OK, I have been swamped with end of semester madness, Christmas, a hockey tournament (which I am proud to report that my son’s team — which I co-coach — won the gold medal game today 8-1), and preparing one and a half new courses for next semester. But don’t worry my pretties, I have not forgot the carnival… Biblical Studies Carnival XLIX will be posted here at the beginning of the year (probably not 1 January, but we’ll see).
This will be an experimental Carnival in that I hope to build it with only nominated posts. That is, you either need to self-submit one or two of your own relevant posts to the Carnival or nominate posts from other bloggers for them to make it into the Carnival. There are a lot of nominations already, so I think this is certainly the way to go. If you are worried about something not being represented in the Carnival, then the best thing to do is nominate it.
To nominate posts you have two options:
- Send the following information to the following email address: biblical_studies_carnival AT hotmail.com. If you’re not sure whether a post qualifies, send it anyway and the I will decide whether to include it.
- The title and permalink URL of the blog post you wish to nominate and the author’s name or pseudonym.
- A short (two or three sentence) summary of the blog post.
- The title and URL of the blog on which it appears (please note if it is a group blog).
- Include “Biblical Studies Carnival [number]” in the subject line of your email
- Your own name and email address.
- Use the submission form provided by Blog Carnival. (This is probably the easier option if you only have one nomination.) Just select “biblical studies carnival” and fill in the rest of the information noted above.
For more information, please see the Biblical Studies Carnival Homepage.

In my recent trip to Ethiopia, I read the Gospel with Ethiopians, visited orphanages & walked among the outcasts: lepers, HIV/AIDS victims, orphans, widows, prostitutes, etc. These people, dubbed the “Sons of Korah” (from the OT) for their thought cursedness, live in a community of 80,000 that backs up to the city’s trash dump for nearly 4-6 million. I met with a tiny little church plant in this community & captured some of their story in writing, photos and video: http://michaelhalcomb.blogspot.com/2009/12/sons-of-korah-in-ethiopia-heirs-to.html

Hey I just wanted to let you know, I really like the writing on your web site. But I am employing Flock on a machine running version 8.x of Crashbang Ubuntu and the look and feel aren’t quite correct. Not a strong deal, I can still essentially read the articles and explore for info, but just wanted to inform you about that. The navigation bar is kind of challenging to apply with the config I’m running. Keep up the great work!
